army of
active volunteers
continues to number
more than 1,400
people of
all ages
Inspiring children to be excited and curious about nature and wildlife is at the heart of all our
edcation work at our environmental education centres and outreach visits.
Nature Discovery Centre,
in Thatcham, hosted nearly 50
events attracting more than
3,000 people.
We held more than 360
events such as walks, workshops
and conservation activities,
including 174 family events.
High quality work with
landowners continues on
woodland sites adjoining our
reserves in the West Berkshire
Living Landscape with the help of those where we could make
more than 300 volunteers.
BBOWT scrutinised
more than 10,000
planning applications
this year, responding to
positive interventions on
behalf of local wildlife.
We lobbied
MPs to ensure
a proposal to
remove the Landfill
Communities
Fund was
overturned
Many of our volunteers
have been involved with
BBOWT for several years
(even decades), giving their
time to one or more of the 46
groups working on our nature
reserves.
