2015-2016 Our Year in Review
Four reserves
were transferred
to BBOWT’s
management by
Buckinghamshire
County Council
Yoesden nature reserve increased in size by almost a third thanks to generous donations
from our supporters and Biffa Award. We purchased three parcels of land: woodland and grassland
areas, and a prime site for the restoration of chalk grassland flowers and grasses using seed from the
original nature reserve. Yoesden is vital link in a network of wildlife sites through the Chilterns.
305 days of work were
carried out by our Bernwood
Forest project volunteers.
Thanks to support from SITA
Trust and the Ryklow Charitable
Trust we managed grassland at
Iffley Meadows for wild flowers.
Meadow Farm nature reserve in the Upper River Ray
Living Landscape area was extended by the purchase, through
WREN funding, of Lower Cow Leys. These 8.9 hectares will be
restored to wildlife havens by the transfer of seed-rich green hay
from other meadows on the farm.
